"... rightly dividing the word of truth"   2 Timothy 2:15

How to start a Witness

 The whole point is to ...
* find a prospect
* get in front of the prospect without being obnoxious
* get the prospect in front of an open Bible
* take the prospect as far as he or she will go in the witness without pushing

Finding a Prospect

Prospects are everywhere.
Jesus said over and over that the fields are white unto harvest. They were 2000 years ago and they are still today. Anyone who is lost is a prospect. Not for praying the sinner's prayer, but for hearing some measure of the Gospel or the whole plan.

Since those that sow the seed of the Word in the hearts of men, enter into the labor of the those that labor in the harvest, all are taking part in the harvest and receive the same reward. So planting is just as important as reaping. This being the case, prospects are indeed everywhere.
* prospects for planting
* prospects for watering
* prospects for reaping

The problem with prospects
Prospects do not know
* what salvation is
* what it takes
* if they want to do what it takes

But, every prospect wants to go to heaven. So this is the best place to start. Even those that don't believe in heaven, would want to go there, if it did indeed exist.

We have people tell us that they don't believe in God. "Fine with us, it does sound a little far fetched to some. But, if heaven did exist and a loving God was there and all your guilt and sin could be taken away, you sure would like to see what it takes, wouldn't you."

Some will say, "But we don't believe in all of that."

"I am not asking you to believe, I am just asking you that if heaven did exist ..." Then no matter what their objection, I keep repeating the same question while changing the first part to fit their objection. Many will finally understand the question and relent.

Everyone wants to go to heaven if heaven is real. Everyone is a prospect, we just need to ask the right questions.

Approach

 1.  Hi, my name is Steven. I go all over telling people what it takes to get to heaven. If I could show it to you, you sure would like to just see it, wouldn't you? Remember, I am not asking you to be born again, but just see what it takes, what would it hurt to just see it?

 2.  Hi, do you go to church in the area sometimes? You do, well in all of your church going, has anyone ever explained to you how you could be saved or born again? They havn't, but if I could show it to you, you sure would like to just see it, wouldn't you? Remember, I am not asking you to be born again, but just see what it takes, what would it hurt to just see it?

Most Christians are shocked at the number of people who will let me show them. Why? because most Christians do not think that the lost want to know.

Sin

The reason why we must be saved or born again is because we have ruined the first birth. Here is how we ruined it ...

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
We are all sinners and cannot get into God's Glory.
This is why we must be saved or born again.

Judged and Condemned

So, what happens to sinners who cannot get into heaven?

"... and all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
The first death is the death of the body.
The second death is the death of the soul in the lake of fire forever.
